The GAC Toyota joint venture has officially announced a new version of the Toyota Camry called the Smart Driving Edition, which is equipped with the TSS 3.0 PRO intelligent driving system. The price of the top model with a hybrid powertrain based on a 2.5-liter engine is 169,800 yuan (about $23,000 or around 2 million rubles), including various discounts such as direct discount, trade-in, and government subsidies totaling 50,000 yuan (approximately $7,000 or nearly 600,000 rubles). In fact, the Camry Hybrid 2.5HG Premium Smart Driving Edition is an upgraded version of the Camry Hybrid 2.5HG Premium Edition, and the Hybrid 2.5HXS Sport Plus Smart Driving Edition is an improved version of the Camry Hybrid 2.5HXS Sport Plus Edition.
The car is now equipped with a driver monitoring system and a touch-sensitive steering wheel, which track the driver’s attention level and prevent dangerous actions such as letting go of the steering wheel.
The TSS 3.0 PRO system operates based on 20 sensors, including 5 millimeter-wave radars, 8 ultrasonic sensors, 4 surround-view cameras, one front camera, one cabin camera, and sensors on the steering wheel. The maximum detection range is 200 meters, providing a 360-degree blind spot view and supporting functions such as lane change assistance, driver monitoring, forward vehicle proximity warning, face recognition, “transparent chassis,” digital key, and more. According to official data, the TSS 3.0 PRO system helps intelligently reduce speed on sharp turns and prevents up to 40% of fatal accidents thanks to its collision avoidance function.
The exterior design of the new Camry has not yet been revealed, but it is expected to remain unchanged. Recall that the car’s dimensions are 4950 x 1850 x 1450 mm, with a wheelbase of 2825 mm.
The hybrid system’s power output is 228 hp.
